Dave is Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Innovation and Western Canada at the Canadian Fuels Association (CFA). CFAโs members represent the downstream energy sector. His role includes policy development and government relations at the federal, provincial and local levels. CFA members provide approximately 95% of Canadaโs transportation fuels including both conventional and renewable fuels.
Dave has been in the downstream energy business for over 30 years. Since 2007, his roles have focused on public affairs, climate change policies and low-carbon business strategy, seeking to balance the needs of a strong economy and affordable, reliable energy while improving environmental outcomes.
He is chair of the B.C. Bioenergy Network, the Cleaner Fuels Theme Lead for the Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN) and on the advisory board of UBCโs Clean Energy Research Centre. Dave holds degrees in Economics and Sociology from the University of Victoria.
Fred Ghatala is the President of Advanced Biofuels Canada, an industry association established to promote the production and use of advanced biofuels in Canada. ABFC members are global leaders in the production of advanced biofuels, with over 35 billion litres of installed annual production capacity worldwide. Fred previously led ABFCโs work to establish biofuel carbon value via lifecycle analyses used in regulations and tax programs, and expanding advanced biofuel use into aviation and marine sectors.
Dr. Michael Rensing was part of the British Columbia public service for 20 years. As Executive Director of the Low Carbon Fuels Branch, Electricity and Alternative Energy Division at the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation, Dr. Michael Rensing led the development of BC’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard Program. This program has been responsible for approximately 30% of the emission reductions achieved by the province of British Columbia, making it one of the most successful low-carbon fuels programs in North America.ย
Michael is the 2021 recipient of the BC Bioenergy Networkโs Sector โChampionโ Award for outstanding leadership and contribution to the bioenergy sector in BC. As President of MJ Rensing Consulting Inc., Michael provides strategic advice and guidance to companies seeking to understand low carbon opportunities and prosper in the new low carbon economy.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Victoria.
Alex Ripley serves as Manager, Government Affairs โ Canada at the RNG Coalition. The RNG Coalition is the trade association and advocacy voice for the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) industry in North America, representing several hundred member companies in Canada and the United States. Alex joined the RNG Coalition at the beginning of 2025, and draws on a background in renewable energy, export development, and economic development to inform his federal and provincial advocacy.ย A native of Bruce County, Ontario, Alex holds degrees from Trinity College at the University of Toronto, and Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS.
Kate Haerizadeh is a Policy Analyst on the carbon team with expertise in environmental policy, compliance, emissions trading systems, and litigation. She has a Masterโs in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University. At OPIS, she focuses on carbon policy across the United States and Canada.
Colleen serves as Vice President at the Advanced Biofuels Canada Association, where she leads policy, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement efforts to advance clean fuel solutions nationwide. She works closely with members, governments, and industry partners on regulatory development, market access, and programs supporting Canadaโs transition to low-carbon energy. In this role, she helps shape strategies on renewable fuel standards and biofuel incentives, ensuring member priorities are well represented in policy and market discussions.
Previously, she served as Senior Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada and the Minister of Social Development, contributing to five federal budgets and advising on procurement, transportation, and economic policy. She was also part of the Canadian Delegation to the United Nations in 2017 and 2018, where Canada reported on its progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Jon Muller brings over a decade of energy industry experience across Refinery Operations, Product Supply Planning, and Low Carbon Strategy. Currently, he leads commercial credit sales for Anew Climate in the North American LCFS markets, including California LCFS, Oregon CFP, Washington CFS, Canadian CFR, and BC LCFS. In this capacity, he is also responsible for regulatory modeling and pricing analytics. Anew is a global leader in environmental markets, and the largest independent marketer of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) across Canada and the US. Prior to Anew, Jon held various Engineering, Supply Optimization, and Strategy roles at Chevron Canada and subsequently Parkland Fuel Corporation (which acquired Chevron Canada).
Mittal Monani serves as the Chief Energy Transition Officer at Cascade, where he leverages deep expertise in environmental commodities to navigate compliance and voluntary carbon markets, RECs, and renewable fuels. A recognized leader in the space, he previously served as Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where he was the architect and head of the North American Environmental Commodities Desk.
Throughout his career, he has built and scaled multi-million dollar environmental businesses for industry giants including Capital Power and Direct Energy (NRG). His track record of innovation includes originating Direct Energyโs inaugural RNG transaction and spearheading their RNG M&A pipeline. Beyond the trading floor, he contributes to the broader ecosystem through industry advisory roles and as a Sessional Instructor at the Haskayne School of Business, teaching Advanced Derivatives Trading to MBA and MSc Math Finance graduates.
Robyn has more than 20 years of experience working in public affairs and policy-making, with more than a decade of that time specializing in environmental and climate change policy. As the lead for Clean Infrastructure at Sussex, Robyn works with clients undertaking decarbonization projects that will contribute to the low-carbon economy. Using her extensive experience in climate and carbon policy, sustainability, and responsible green infrastructure project development, Robyn guides clients through the complex policy, political, and regulatory arenas on all levels of government to ensure successful project execution.
David Beaudoin, co-founder and CEO of NEL-i, is a recognized expert in carbon finance, climate policies, and GHG management. NEL-i is an engineering, strategic consulting, and project development firm focused on elevating climate ambitions and implementing practical, “down-to-earth” solutions.
Bringing 20 years of experience to carbon markets, David supports clean technologies and innovative business models. His expertise includes developing carbon offset projects both in Canada and internationally, notably leading community-led ecosystem restoration initiatives in Peru, Bolivia, and Guinea.
Additionally, David is a founding partner of CFR Platform, which provides a turnkey solution for generating credits from clean fuels production and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
Stephen Donofrio is a Director and Head of Carbon Markets Intelligence at OPIS, a Dow Jones company. During his time at the company, he has developed and launched CAMIRO, the carbon analytics service of the OPIS Carbon Suite, providing policy insights and price forecasts, updated weekly to account for the latest regulatory developments and grounded in market fundamentals to help stakeholders anticipate shifts that may impact their businesses.
Based in New York City, he leads carbon markets policy and price forecasting in the Americas and Europe. He works closely with companies in GHG-intensive industries and in the biofuel supply chain, investors, liquidity providers and traders.
He is an international climate expert, creative strategist and experienced leader with a strong two-decade sustainability/ESG track record in global compliance and voluntary carbon markets, climate policy, corporate sustainability, non-financial mandatory reporting, ethical supply chains and responsible investing.
Before joining OPIS, he senior leadership positions at Ecosystem Marketplace (a Forest Trends initiative), Chicago Climate Exchange, CDP (formerly, Carbon Disclosure Project) and the United Nations.ย

Jordan joined OPIS following several years as an price reporter, and later an analyst, covering the renewable fuels industry at Platts. His primary areas of focus have included U.S. ethanol and biodiesel industry policy and pricing trends, global biofuels tradeflows and carbon-reducing fuel policies. Prior to diving into energy markets, he was a sportswriter, primarily covering Houston-area sports. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 with a degree in Journalism.
