Pemex’s Deer Park Refinery Processing Reaches 322,000 b/d in Q2
Pemex’s 340,000 b/d Deer Park refinery in Texas operated near its top capacity in the second quarter of 2026, processing 322,000 b/d of crude, the state-owned company said in its latest financial report.
Adán Enrique García, director of PMI, Pemex’s international trading arm, said during Pemex’s late-July earnings call that refining margins on the US Gulf Coast exceeded the company’s 2026 expectations amid disruptions to international markets following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. High refinery utilization boosted exports of crude and refined products, he said.
Deer Park’s crude processing increased 6% in the quarter to 322,000 b/d from 304,000 b/d in the first quarter, García said. Product output also rose 4%, to 298,000 b/d from 287,000 b/d, including 144,000 b/d of gasoline and 120,000 b/d of diesel, according to the report.
The refinery’s crude processing increased 4.8% year to year in the second quarter. For the first half of 2026, Deer Park averaged 313,000 b/d of crude processing, up 19.5% from the 262,000 b/d average recorded for full-year 2025.
García said maintenance carried out at the refinery in 2025 helped keep its year-to-date performance near record levels in terms of utilization while reducing unplanned downtime.
Deer Park’s output is not included in Pemex’s domestic refining system totals, and the refinery’s products are not shipped to Mexico but are sold in international markets.
However, Deer Park processed more crude than any other Pemex refinery in Mexico during the second quarter. The company’s seven domestic refineries averaged 1.008 million b/d of crude processing during the quarter.
The 270,000 b/d Tula refinery in Hidalgo was the top-performing domestic refinery over that period, processing 254,000 b/d, followed by 178,000 b/d from the 330,000 b/d Salina Cruz refinery in Oaxaca, according to Pemex data.
