Scorpio Tankers to Buy Four Scrubber-Equipped Vessel

Scorpio Tankers agreed to buy four newbuild vessels equipped with scrubbers, the company said this week.

Two LR2 product tankers will be built at China’s Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry for $72.8 million each, with deliveries expected in October and November 2029. Two very large crude carriers, or VLCCs, will be built at Hengli Shipbuilding (Dalian) for $135 million each, with deliveries expected in September and October 2028.

Separately, Monaco-based Scorpio said it has agreed to sell three product tankers: The 2014-built scrubber-fitted MR product tanker STI Dama for $37.5 million; the 2014-built scrubber-fitted LR2 product tanker STI Elysees for $70 million; and the 2015-built scrubber-fitted LR2 product tanker STI Veneto for $73 million. The sales are expected to close before the end of 2026.
