US Mobile Fueling Firm Diesel Direct Acquires Sprague Energy’s Pennsylvania Operations

Diesel Direct, a large mobile fueling service with operations across the U.S., has acquired Sprague Energy’s Pennsylvania operations, a Sprague spokesman confirmed Monday in an interview.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal closed on May 1.

The sale comprised the Coen Energy business Sprague purchased in 2017. Coen, based in Washington, Pa., provided energy products and energy field services to more than 7,000 commercial and residential customers in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. At the time Sprague acquired it, Coen had four bulk plants, two throughput locations and about 100 delivery vehicles.

The sale to Diesel Direct included two bulk plants in Washington, one in Greensburg, Pa., and another in Carmichaels, Pa., with a total capacity of 344,000 gal. The deal also included a 42,000-gal, leased bulk plant in
Clarington, Ohio.

Sprague said it will continue to provide electricity and natural gas to commercial customers in the region.

Diesel Direct officials could not be reached for comment on the purchase.

Steve Kossuth, senior vice president and general manager at Diesel Direct, said in a recent LinkedIn post that the company is growing and looking for “top talent to grow with us.”
